Don’t let ANYONE near you with a Laser until you’ve Asked these Questions
1. Are you being sold Laser treatments when the machine is actually a low powered IPL?Beware - many salons and clinics offer IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and are technically not lasers at all. These are generally much lower powered machines, and therefore less effective than Medical Lasers. The unsettling thing is – with the lack of regulation in Ireland, anyone can buy a low powered machine and claim they are offering true laser hair removal. These machines do, at best, a poor job, and in the wrong hands can cause quite a lot of damage. It’s VITAL you find out what their equipment actually is, so ask! Make sure the Clinic only uses medical lasers that have the FDA stamp of approval, as this means they are proven to work.
2. Is the hair you want treated Red, White or Grey?
Unfortunately you are not a candidate for treatment, as in our experience Red, White or Grey hair will not respond to any laser. If anyone tries to tell you that you will get a result, chances are they're just after your money. Don't walk away, run!
3. Are you being told the sensation is similar to having your skin snapped with an elastic band?
This usually translates to ‘this treatment will hurt!’ Any Laser Clinic with your comfort in mind will want to offer genuinely pain free treatment. The Soprano XL laser is the most advanced hair removal laser on the market today, and has been designed with a special ‘in motion’ head to produce the most comfortable laser hair removal experience ever! If you’re not into pain, make sure your laser clinic has this technology.
4. Has your laser technician been trained to the highest standards?
Ideally, as well as having many years of experience, your technician should have received ‘The Core of Knowledge’ training – this is the highest level of laser hair removal training available. It's very important that the laser technician is experienced with the laser machine. Your hair growth is like fingerprint, no two people are the same, however the number of sessions can vary dramatically if the laser technician is inexperienced.
5. Is your technician doctor supervised?
A doctor should always be available to the laser technicians should they have any queries, for your safety.
6. Is their service really confidential?
You should never have to grow your hair out prior to your laser hair removal treatment. People will know. Your Clinic should allow you to shave the hair between treatments. So no one need ever know you are receiving laser hair removal, and when that embarrassing hair is gone, you can forget you ever had it!
Your Laser Clinic should be in a discreet central location with nearby parking so you can keep a low profile when entering and leaving.
7. Is their pricing honest?
Since the recession came about, there’s been an unsettling development - some laser clinics have gone out of business. When a clinic goes bust, usually the people who have paid up front for courses lose whatever they’ve paid.
Be warned. If you're considering paying for any course of laser hair removal, and the price seems too good to be true, AND they want all of your money up-front - THINK VERY CAREFULLY!!
To show all of our lovely clients we have EVERY intention of being around for a long time to come, we have being encouraging people to pay for courses via our 0% finance plan. This means you can spread your laser hair removal course payments over 6 interest free months, and this gives our clients' confidence that we're here for the long haul.
So you see there's a lot more to consider than the price.
8. What is the real cost of treatments over time?
If you opt for one of the less effective lasers or IPLs you can end up having to have a lot more treatments. Booking a course with a clinic using one of these inferior machines may have seemed like a good idea at the time, but if your course of treatment is finished and the hair's still there, what then?
And that's assuming they're still in business by the time you're finishing your course...
The following video is very 'American', but when you get over that it gives you a clear picture on the technology behind this laser...
Laser Hair Removal – The Permanent Solution
If you're desperate to get rid of unwanted hair on your face or body you are not alone. Men and women alike are flocking to laser hair removal establishments - in fact laser hair removal is the 3rd most popular cosmetic procedure for men!So what are Medical lasers?
For years the gold standard medical laser foreffective hair removal was the Alexandrite Long Pulsed Laser. That accolade now belongs to the Soprano XL Diode laser, as it offers truly pain-free effective hair removal, even for the most sensitive types. How do these lasers work?
Medical lasers remove your hair by killing the hair follicle, through a targeted laser beam. The laser beam is only attracted to the melanin (hair colour), so only the hair itself is damaged, making it ideal for hair removal in all areas of the body, including delicate places such as the face, bikini line, under arm and more. What do you mean by a ‘full body’ laser hair removal?
A full body literally covers any where on your body including the full brazilian. The only area we do not treat is the scalp, which most people are not looking to get rid of anyway!Does it hurt?
Because of the top class lasers we have at our disposal, we can choose the laser most suitable to your skin and hair type, so we can safely remove hair from even the most delicate areas without the sensation of pain. This has made us the clinic of choice for those who want the very briefest brazilian bikini line.
Our Guarantee
With a genuine Medical Laser, on average at least six sessions are required to clear an area. We are so confident with the equipment and the ability of their laser technicians, that we give you a Guarantee. This means that once you have had 6 sessions of laser hair removal, any more single top-up sessions you need within the year will be half the price. What if I’m not suitable for this treatment?
When you come to us, you will receive a thorough assessment, and if we feel that for any reason you are not suitable for the treatment, you will not receive it. This may not be what you want to hear, but we would never take on any one for treatment knowing we wouldn't get a satisfactory outcome for you. What to Expect After Treatment
You’ve completed a laser hair removal treatment—congratulations, one down! You’re on your way. After a session of laser hair removal, you can expect to see redness in the treatment area for the first few hours, as well as slight bumps that may last for up to 3 days. Unless your skin is extra sensitive these should not be very noticeable, so you can comfortably resume your regular daily activities.
It is also possible to experience a change in skin pigmentation—either a lightening or darkening—after a laser hair removal treatment. However, this is rare, especially for fair, untanned skin, and is usually only temporary.
Expect Delayed Shedding
For about 2-3 weeks following a laser hair removal treatment, your hair will actually look like it’s still growing. What? Visible hair after a laser treatment? No need to worry, this is just the treated hair falling out.The laser didn’t pluck the hair out from its root, but damaged the root itself, and inhibited future hair growth within that follicle. So, after the treated hair is fully shed (again, usually about 2-3 weeks after treatment), you’ll enjoy a period of about 3-5 hair-free weeks. When it first starts to reappear, that means you’re back in the actively growing stage of the hair growth cycle! Time to return for your next treatment.
A Few Pre-Treatment Tips
First, What NOT To Do Before Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment
Don't Pluck!
Prior to a laser hair removal treatment, you must abstain from tweezing, waxing, or any other unwanted hair treatment that removes hair from its root. Why? Because there needs to be hair in the hair follicle for laser hair removal to work. The laser is attracted to the melanin, or pigment, of the hair. For a strong presence of melanin, the hair must be in its active growth phase. If you pluck the hair out yourself, you've not only blown your upcoming treatment, but you've also disrupted the natural hair cycle.Don't Tan!
You should also avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks before, and after your laser hair removal treatment. There are plenty of good reasons to avoid excessive sun exposure, but in this case, it’s to allow the laser to do its job. Tanned skin has extra melanin, which attracts laser energy. This means the skin is at risk of being burned by the laser, and also that it will detract the laser energy from its target—the hair. You can use fake tanning products between treatments, but again, make sure this has been completely removed before your session.Don't Moisturise!
On the day of your laser hair removal treatment, avoid applying any lotions or potions whatever to the surface of your skin. There’s a chance that such products may block the laser energy or cause an allergic reaction. Now, What you CAN Do
Do ShaveLuckily for those who suffer with unwanted hair in obvious places, shaving before your laser treatments is okay. In fact, you should shave the area to be treated the day before your session. The idea is to have a nice, close shave, so that there is no hair outside the skin that may attract and waste the laser energy.
